Climate Analysis:

Baie Comeau experiences characteristics of both a continental and maritime climate. While mainly continental, it is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. The temperature range is approximately 30EC while the annual precipitation is around 1100 millimeters.

Factors affecting the climate of Baie Comeau:

Temperature:

Latitude: Baie Comeau has a latitude of 4908'N. This causes the sun rays to be dispersed which causes us not to get as much of the suns warmth as places further south.

Nearness to water: Baie Comeau is located near the Atlantic Ocean, since water heats up slower and cools slower it tends to keep temperatures moderate in winter and cool in summer.

Air Masses: In the winter the area gets the Continental Arctic air mass which tend to  bring the cold winter temperatures. However, it would not be unusual for this area to be influenced by the Maritime polar air mass that would moderate the cold winter temperature. In the summer, the Maritime Tropic air mass helps moderate summer temperatures.

 Precipitation:

Latitude: This receives three or four months of precipitation which more then likely in the form of snow because of the northerly location.

Nearness to water: Due to the fact that Baie Comeau is located near the Ocean, the air picks up moisture from the water and carries it over the land  which is why the area receives significant precipitation throughout the year.

Air Masses:  Throughout all seasons of the year this area is often affected by air masses that originate over large bodies of water, therefore these masses tend to carry lots of moisture giving significant precipitation to the area in all seasons of the year.

Land forms and Altitude: These two factors doesnt have little impact on the climate in this area at all.
